National Water Quality Assessment Program
The National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program is a scientific effort by the U.S. Geological Survey to evaluate the quality of the nation's water resources. It monitors surface and groundwater sources to identify pollutants, understand how water quality changes over time, and determine the factors that affect water health. The program collects and analyzes data on contaminants, nutrients, and overall water conditions across different regions, helping policymakers, communities, and industries make informed decisions to protect and improve water quality for public health and ecosystems.
