National Violent Crime Survey

The National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) is a government research project that collects information directly from people about their experiences with crimes such as theft, assault, and robbery. Conducted twice a year through interviews, it helps to understand how often crimes occur, who they affect, and the circumstances involved. Importantly, it captures data on crimes that often go unreported to police, providing a more accurate picture of crime nationwide. The NCVS assists policymakers and law enforcement in developing strategies to prevent crime and improve community safety.
