National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC)

The National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) is a government agency in Costa Rica responsible for protecting the country’s natural resources and biodiversity. It manages national parks, wildlife refuges, and other protected areas to conserve ecosystems, promote sustainable use, and ensure environmental health. SINAC also oversees conservation policies, conducts research, and works with local communities to balance preservation with sustainable development. Its goal is to safeguard Costa Rica’s rich natural heritage for current and future generations while supporting eco-tourism and environmental education.
