National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN)

The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) is an insurgent group formed in 1980, advocating for greater autonomy or independence for the Naga people in Northeast India. It seeks to preserve Naga identity, culture, and political rights, often through armed struggle, and has engaged in peace negotiations with the Indian government. The NSCN is divided into factions, notably NSCN (IM) and NSCN (K), each with differing approaches but sharing the goal of Nagaland's sovereignty. While prominent in regional conflicts, the group’s activities are considered illegal by India, and efforts continue to negotiate a peaceful resolution.
