National Puzzlers' League

The National Puzzlers' League (NPL) is a community founded in 1883 dedicated to the art of puzzles, riddles, and wordplay. Members, known as "Puzzlists," create, share, and enjoy various intellectual challenges, such as crosswords, cryptic puzzles, and cryptograms. The league fosters a culture of creativity and camaraderie among puzzle enthusiasts through annual conventions, publications, and online interactions. Its goal is to promote the appreciation and development of puzzling as both an entertaining hobby and a form of intellectual engagement. The NPL has played a significant role in popularizing puzzle creation and fostering a global community of dedicated solvers and constructors.
