National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel
The National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) is an organization dedicated to improving the prevention, treatment, and understanding of pressure injuries, also known as bedsores. These injuries occur when sustained pressure cuts off blood flow to certain areas of the skin, often affecting people who are immobile or bedridden. The NPIAP develops guidelines, provides education, and promotes awareness to help healthcare providers and caregivers effectively prevent and manage these injuries. Their goal is to reduce the occurrence and severity of pressure injuries across healthcare settings and community environments.
