National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE)

The National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) is a standardized test required for licensure as a licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant in the United States. It assesses a candidate’s knowledge and skills in understanding human anatomy, physiology, clinical reasoning, and treatment techniques to ensure they are qualified to provide safe and effective patient care. Administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT), passing the NPTE demonstrates that a candidate has met the professional competency standards necessary to practice as a licensed physical therapist or assistant.
