National Landslide Hazards Program
The National Landslide Hazards Program, run by the U.S. Geological Survey, studies landslides—things like mudslides and rockfalls—to understand how and why they happen. Its goal is to assess landslide risks, improve prediction methods, and help communities prepare and respond effectively. This program gathers data, develops hazard maps, and provides information to promote safer land use and construction practices, ultimately reducing damage and saving lives from landslide events.
