National Integrated Ballistic Information Network

The National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) is a system used by law enforcement to help solve gun crimes. It collects and analyzes markings left on bullets and cartridge casings fired from guns. When new evidence is entered into NIBIN, the system compares these markings to a database of previously tested firearms. If there’s a match, it can link crimes together or identify the gun used. This helps investigators track illegal gun usage more efficiently, providing crucial information to solve shootings and prevent crimes.
