National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF)

The National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF) is a federal program established to increase the availability of affordable housing for extremely low-income households. Funded mainly through contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, it provides grants to states to develop, preserve, and rehabilitate housing units that these vulnerable populations can afford. The goal is to reduce homelessness and housing insecurity by ensuring more people with very limited income have access to safe, stable homes.
