National Guard of Nicaragua
The National Guard of Nicaragua was a military force established in the 20th century, primarily responsible for internal security, border defense, and maintaining order. It was tasked with controlling dissent and safeguarding the country's stability. Founded with assistance from the United States, it played a significant role in Nicaragua's political landscape until it was disbanded in 1979 following the Sandinista Revolution. Today, Nicaragua's military functions are handled by the Nicaraguan Army, while the National Guard as an organization no longer exists.
