National Ganga River Basin Authority

The National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGBRA) is an Indian government body formed in 2009 to oversee the protection and management of the Ganga River, one of the country's most important waterways. It brings together central and state government agencies to coordinate efforts for cleaning, conserving, and sustainable use of the river’s resources. Its goal is to reduce pollution, maintain ecological health, and ensure the river's long-term viability for millions of people who depend on it for water, culture, and livelihood.
