National Front (Iran)

The National Front was a political organization in Iran founded in 1949, promoting national sovereignty, democratic governance, and opposition to foreign influence, especially from Britain and the U.S. It gained significant support under Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh, who nationalized Iran’s oil industry. The group championed constitutionalism, economic independence, and modernization efforts. After Mosaddegh's overthrow in 1953, the Front faced suppression, but it remained an important symbol of Iranian nationalism and democracy. Today, the term is associated with a historical movement advocating for Iran’s independence and democratic principles.
