National Fire Service

The National Fire Service was a unified organization responsible for firefighting and rescue operations across the UK, especially during World War II. It replaced local fire brigades to improve coordination and efficiency in combating fires caused by bombings and other emergencies. The service employed trained firefighters and specialized equipment to protect communities, save lives, and minimize damage. After the war, it was gradually replaced by local fire authorities, but its creation marked a key step toward centralized emergency response and civil defense efforts during a critical period.
