National Early Literacy Panel
The National Early Literacy Panel (NELP) was a group of researchers and experts established to identify the key skills that predict children's later reading success. They reviewed extensive studies to determine which early abilities—such as alphabet knowledge, phonemic awareness, and oral language skills—are most important for developing literacy. Their goal was to inform educators, parents, and policymakers about effective strategies to support early reading development, ultimately helping children become proficient readers and learners.
