National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) was a military-led interim government in Thailand established in 2014 following a coup d’état. Its primary role was to maintain stability, oversee political transitions, and implement reforms until a new civilian government could be elected. The NCPO operated with executive authority, bypassing regular civilian institutions, and aimed to restore order and address issues like political division and unrest. It officially dissolved in 2019 when a civilian government was restored, but during its tenure, it significantly influenced Thailand’s political landscape through military-led governance.
