National Congolese Movement
The National Congolese Movement (Mouvement National Congolais, MNC) was a political party founded in 1958 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, led by Patrice Lumumba. It aimed to promote independence from Belgian colonial rule and foster national unity among Congolese people. The MNC played a significant role in the country's path to independence in 1960, advocating for sovereignty, self-governance, and support for Congolese interests. Lumumba’s leadership made the MNC a prominent force in Congo’s post-colonial history, although its influence faced challenges amid political instability and Cold War tensions during the country’s early years of independence.
