National Assembly of Sri Lanka
The National Assembly of Sri Lanka was the country's legislative body responsible for enacting laws, approving budgets, and shaping national policy. It operated from 1978 to 1989 and consisted of elected representatives who debated and voted on important issues. The Assembly was part of the parliamentary system under the 1978 constitution, replacing the previous unicameral parliament with a constitutionally defined structure aiming for a more centralized authority. In 1989, it was replaced by a new Parliament of Sri Lanka, continuing the country's democratic process through elected representatives.
