Nathan Hale was an American patriot and soldier during the Revolutionary War. He is best known for his bravery and patriotism, famously saying, "I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country." Hale volunteered as a spy for the Continental Army, gathering intelligence on British troops. He was captured by the British in 1776 and sentenced to death.
