Narsimham Report
The Narsimham Report, published in 1991 by economist M. Narasimham, analyzed India’s banking system and recommended reforms to improve its efficiency and stability. It advised strengthening banks’ financial health, reducing government control, promoting competition, and adopting better risk management practices. The goal was to modernize Indian banks, make them more responsive to economic needs, and prepare the banking sector for integration with global markets, ultimately supporting sustainable growth and financial stability in the country.
