Narcissistic Personality Organization
Narcissistic Personality Organization (NPO) is a psychological term describing a pattern where an individual’s self-esteem heavily depends on maintaining a grandiose self-image. People with NPO often seek admiration and validation from others to feel valued, but their self-worth is fragile and easily threatened. They may react defensively to criticism, prioritize personal success over relationships, and struggle with empathy. Unlike more severe narcissistic disorders, NPO suggests a less rigid, more changeable personality structure, where varying degrees of narcissistic traits can coexist with healthier functioning, depending on circumstances and personal insight.
