Napoleon's Hundred Days

Napoleon's Hundred Days refers to the brief period in 1815 when Napoleon Bonaparte escaped exile on the island of Elba and regained power in France. After escaping, he rallied supporters, restored his rule as emperor, and tried to defend France from the Seventh Coalition of European enemies. This period lasted about three months, ending with his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo. Following this loss, he was again exiled, this time to Saint Helena, ending his rule and significantly shaping European history by ending France’s first empire and leading to a new balance of power.
