Nansen Passport

The Nansen Passport was an identity document created after World War I for refugees and stateless persons who lacked official identification from their home countries. Named after explorer Fridtjof Nansen, its purpose was to provide recognized proof of identity and travel rights, helping displaced individuals move more safely across borders and access assistance. It was one of the earliest forms of international refugee documentation, facilitating mobility and aid during a time of widespread displacement. Though no longer in use, the Nansen Passport laid groundwork for modern refugee identification systems.
