NANOGrav

NANOGrav (North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves) is a scientific project that uses a network of highly stable pulsars—rapidly spinning neutron stars emitting regular radio pulses—as natural detectors to search for gravitational waves. These waves are ripples in spacetime caused by massive cosmic events like merging supermassive black holes. By precisely timing the signals from these pulsars over years, NANOGrav aims to identify tiny disturbances in spacetime, helping us understand cosmic phenomena and test fundamental physics.
