Namibia independence
Namibia gained independence from South Africa on March 21, 1990, ending decades of colonial rule and apartheid policies that marginalized its people. Before independence, Namibia was known as South West Africa, administered by South Africa despite international opposition. The struggle involved diplomatic efforts and armed resistance, led by the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO). Negotiations culminated in a peaceful transition, establishing Namibia as a sovereign nation with its own government and constitution. This milestone marked a significant step in decolonization and the fight for self-determination in Africa.
