Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic
The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is a landlocked region in southwestern Azerbaijan, separated from the main part of the country by Armenia. It has a special status as an autonomous area, meaning it has its own local government and some degree of self-rule under Azerbaijan's sovereignty. Known for its rich history, ancient monuments, and natural beauty, Nakhchivan is culturally unique with Azerbaijani, Persian, and Turkic influences. It plays a strategic role in regional relations and maintains its own economic and administrative systems while being connected to Azerbaijan's central government.
