Naja (cobras)
Naja, commonly known as cobras, are a group of highly recognizable venomous snakes found mostly in Africa and Asia. They are known for their ability to raise the front part of their bodies and spread a ‘hood’ when threatened, serving as a warning display. Cobras produce potent venom that can affect the nervous system, potentially leading to paralysis or death if untreated. They play an important role in controlling pest populations. Despite their fearsome reputation, cobras generally avoid humans and will only bite if provoked or cornered.
