Nafion

Nafion is a special type of material called a membrane, used mainly in fuel cells and other energy devices. It’s a thin, flexible sheet made of a polymer (plastic) with tiny channels that allow protons (positively charged particles) to pass through while blocking gases like hydrogen and oxygen. This selective permeability helps produce electricity efficiently by facilitating the chemical reactions needed in fuel cells. Nafion’s ability to conduct protons while remaining impermeable to gases makes it essential for converting fuels into electricity cleanly and reliably.
