NAEP Reading Assessment

The NAEP Reading Assessment, also known as the National Assessment of Educational Progress, measures students' reading skills across the United States. Conducted nationwide every few years, it evaluates what students in grades 4, 8, and 12 know and can do in reading comprehension, including understanding words, sentences, and texts. The results help educators, policymakers, and the public understand how students are performing academically, identify areas needing improvement, and track educational progress over time. It is a standardized, unbiased way to assess reading proficiency and guide efforts to improve literacy education nationwide.
