NADP+
NADP+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate) is a molecule that plays a crucial role in cells by helping transfer energy. It functions as an electron carrier, accepting electrons during reactions such as photosynthesis in plants or metabolism in humans. When NADP+ gains electrons and a hydrogen ion, it becomes NADPH, a form that provides energy for various biological processes like building molecules or repairing tissues. Essentially, NADP+ acts as a molecular ‘battery,’ capturing and storing energy that cells can later use to power different functions.
