Nabataean Alphabet
The Nabataean alphabet was used by the Nabataeans, an ancient Arab people, around 300 BCE to 300 CE. It’s a script that consists of 23 consonant letters, written from right to left, and is considered an early form of the Aramaic script. The Nabataean alphabet played a key role in developing the later Arabic scripts. It was primarily used for inscriptions and documents in trade centers like Petra. Its forms gradually evolved into the Arabic alphabet we recognize today, bridging ancient Semitic writing systems and modern script development.
