Númenor

Númenor is a fictional island from J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium, located in the west of Middle-earth. It was a land of advanced, noble Men, gifted with long life and wisdom by the Valar, divine beings. Originally a paradise, Númenor flourished culturally and technologically, becoming a powerful maritime civilization. However, later in its history, the Númenóreans grew prideful and defied the Valar, leading to their downfall as the island was submerged beneath the sea.
