Myofibril
Myofibrils are tiny, thread-like structures inside muscle cells that are responsible for muscle contraction. They are made up of even smaller units called sarcomeres, which contain organized proteins like actin and myosin. When your brain signals a muscle to move, these proteins slide past each other within the myofibrils, shortening the overall muscle fiber and producing movement. Myofibrils are highly organized, which allows muscles to contract efficiently and generate force, enabling activities like lifting, walking, or running. Essentially, myofibrils are the fundamental components that make muscle contractions possible.
