Myles Standish

Myles Standish was an English military officer and colonist who played a key role in early American history. Arriving in 1620 with the Pilgrims, he served as their military leader and advisor, helping to organize their defense and settle conflicts with indigenous peoples. Standish’s strategic skills helped the Pilgrims survive their first challenging years in Plymouth Colony. Although not a founder in the traditional sense, his leadership and military experience were vital to the colony’s stability and success during its formative period in the early 17th century.
