Myelography
Myelography is a diagnostic imaging procedure used to examine the spinal cord, nerve roots, and surrounding structures. It involves injecting a special dye (contrast agent) into the spinal canal via a lumbar puncture (around the lower back). After the dye spreads, X-ray or CT scans are taken to visualize any abnormalities such as herniated disks, tumors, or spinal stenosis. The contrast helps highlight areas of concern, providing detailed images that assist doctors in diagnosing and planning appropriate treatment for spinal conditions. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia and may cause temporary discomfort.
