Myanmar Education System
Myanmar’s education system comprises primary, middle, and high school levels, typically from ages 5 to 19. Formal education is divided into basic education (grades 1–11) and higher education. Primary education lasts 5 years, followed by 4 years of middle (or middle and high school), culminating in the Basic Education High School Examination. Higher education includes colleges and universities offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Education is primarily government-funded, with ongoing efforts to improve access and quality. Challenges include disparities between urban and rural areas and resource limitations, but the system aims to develop a skilled workforce aligned with national development goals.
