Myanmar Civil War

The Myanmar Civil War is an ongoing conflict between the Myanmar military (Tatmadaw) and various ethnic armed groups seeking greater autonomy or independence. Since independence in 1948, fighting has persisted due to ethnic divisions, political power struggles, and resistance to military rule. The military has often suppressed ethnic minorities, leading to decades of armed resistance, peace negotiations, and violence. Recent years have seen intensified clashes following the 2021 military coup ousting the civilian government, deepening the crisis. The conflict continues to cause significant civilian suffering, displacement, and instability across Myanmar.
