Muybridge's Horse
Eadweard Muybridge's "Horse in Motion" is a pioneering photographic experiment from 1878 that captures a horse as it runs, breaking down each phase into a series of images. Using multiple cameras triggered in sequence, Muybridge showed that there is a point when all four of a horse's hooves are off the ground during a trot or gallop, challenging earlier beliefs. This work was instrumental in advancing motion picture technology and visualizing movement scientifically, providing insight into animal and human motion that had previously been difficult to observe in detail.
