Muslim Burial Customs
Muslim burial customs emphasize respects and humility for the deceased. After death, the body is washed, shrouded in simple white cloth (kafan), and prayers are recited. The body is then placed facing the Qibla (mecca). Burial usually occurs quickly, often within 24 hours, in the ground without a coffin if local laws permit. Mourning periods are overseen by community practices, with visitors offering prayers (Janazah) for the departed. These customs reflect the Islamic view of life, emphasizing equality in death and the importance of communal support and remembrance.
