Musharraf (Pervez Musharraf)

Pervez Musharraf is a Pakistani military leader and politician who served as the country’s Chief of Army Staff from 1998 to 2007. In 1999, he led a military coup that overthrew the civilian government, becoming Pakistan’s Chief Executive and later President. His rule was marked by efforts to modernize the economy, strengthen the military, and align Pakistan with the West, especially after 9/11. Musharraf faced internal opposition and legal challenges, eventually resigning in 2008. His leadership remains controversial, seen by some as stabilizing and reform-minded, while others criticize his authoritarian approach and military dominance in politics.
