Muscle spasticity
Muscle spasticity is a condition where certain muscles become stiff, tight, or overly responsive due to nerve signals being disrupted or overactive. This abnormal muscle tone can cause muscles to contract involuntarily, leading to stiffness, difficulty moving, and sometimes pain. It commonly occurs after neurological injuries or conditions like stroke, multiple sclerosis, or spinal cord injury. Spasticity varies in severity and can affect weekly routines and mobility. Treatment options include physical therapy, medications, and sometimes injections, all aimed at reducing muscle stiffness and improving movement.
