Muon System

The Muon System is a part of a particle detector used in high-energy physics experiments, such as those at the Large Hadron Collider. Its main role is to identify muons—heavy, charged particles similar to electrons but more massive. Because muons can travel through layers of other detector material without being absorbed, the Muon System is positioned on the outermost parts, helping scientists distinguish muons from other particles produced in collisions. This allows researchers to study fundamental particles and forces, contributing to our understanding of the universe.
