Municipal bond financing
Municipal bond financing is a method used by local governments and public agencies to raise funds for community projects like roads, schools, or hospitals. They do this by issuing bonds—essentially IOUs—that investors buy, providing the government with upfront capital. In return, the government commits to pay back the bond over time with interest. These bonds are typically tax-exempt for residents, making them an attractive investment. This financing technique allows municipalities to fund large projects without immediately raising taxes, spreading out costs over many years while ensuring community needs are met efficiently.
