Multigated Acquisition (MUGA) Scans
A Multigated Acquisition (MUGA) scan is a non-invasive test used in nuclear cardiology to assess how well the heart pumps blood. During the procedure, a small amount of a radioactive substance is injected into a vein. Special cameras then take images of the heart as it beats, allowing doctors to evaluate the heart's function and identify any areas that may not be pumping effectively. MUGA scans are often used to monitor patients with heart conditions or those undergoing heart treatments, helping doctors make informed decisions about care.
