Multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB)

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a form of TB that does not respond to the usual antibiotics used for treatment. It occurs when the bacteria causing TB become resistant after improper use or incomplete treatment. As a result, MDR-TB is harder to treat, requiring longer, more complex, and often more toxic medication. It can spread to others if not properly managed. Effective diagnosis and adherence to the full treatment plan are essential to control MDR-TB and prevent its spread.
