Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a proactive approach used in schools to ensure all students succeed academically, behaviorally, and emotionally. It involves layers or levels of support, starting with targeted classroom teaching (Tier 1), and providing additional interventions for students who need extra help (Tier 2). If needed, more intensive, individualized interventions (Tier 3) are offered. MTSS emphasizes early identification and prevention, combining assessments, evidence-based strategies, and collaboration among educators, students, and families to address diverse student needs effectively and promote positive outcomes for everyone.
