Multi-Store Model of Memory

The Multi-Store Model of Memory suggests that our memory has three separate parts: sensory memory, short-term memory, and long-term memory. Sensory memory briefly holds information from our senses. If we pay attention, it moves to short-term memory, which temporarily stores and processes information we’re actively thinking about. With repetition or meaningful association, some information then moves into long-term memory for permanent storage. This model helps explain how we process and retain different types of information, highlighting that memory involves multiple stages that work together to form our overall memory system.
