Muktijuddho
Muktijuddho, or the Liberation War of 1971, was Bangladesh’s fight for independence from Pakistan. After years of political, economic, and cultural disparities, the people of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) sought self-determination. The conflict intensified following Pakistan's military crackdown on March 25, 1971, known as Operation Searchlight. Inspired by a desire for autonomy and justice, millions of Bangladeshis participated in the war, which lasted until December 16, 1971, when Bangladesh emerged as an independent nation. The war is remembered for its significant sacrifices and the struggle for national identity, sovereignty, and human rights.
