Mujahedeen

Mujahedeen, derived from the Arabic word "jihad," refers to individuals engaged in a struggle or fight for their religious or political beliefs, particularly in the context of Muslims defending their faith or autonomy. Historically, the term gained prominence during the Soviet-Afghan War in the 1980s, when Afghan fighters opposed Soviet invasion. They were seen as resistance fighters or freedom fighters by many. The term has since been used more broadly to describe various Islamist groups engaged in armed struggle. However, it is important to note that perceptions of mujahedeen can vary significantly based on political and cultural viewpoints.
