MTF

MTF, or Modulation Transfer Function, is a measure used to evaluate how well an imaging system (like a camera or lens) can reproduce details from an object onto an image. It describes the system's ability to preserve contrast at different levels of detail or spatial frequencies. A high MTF at a given frequency means the system can accurately capture fine details with good contrast, while a low MTF indicates it may blur or lose contrast in those details. Essentially, MTF helps quantify the sharpness and clarity an imaging system can achieve across different scales.
